See it here first!  Here is Susan Boyle’s first performance on Britain’s Got Talent.   Quite literally a staggering performance of I Dreamed a Dream from the west end’s longest running show ever, Les Miserables.

I’m sure you’ll agree this is breath taking and a real tear jerker.  Susan to win!

Susan Boyle, an unassuming 48 year old virgin from an unassuming Scottish Village sprang onto the big lights of Britain’s Got Talent Stage and blew Simon Cowell away, earning herself a standing ovation from the crowd as well as the judges.

Susan Boyle from Blackburn - West Lothian told the Britain’s Got Talent Geordie hosts Ant and Dec that she’s “never had a boyfriend” and she has “never been kissed” before she gyrated onto the stage telling the judges that she wanted to “rock the crowd”.

The judges and audience couldn’t stop their laughter when Susan Boyle said her ambition was to “be a professional singer like Elaine Page.” However their laughter was soon short lived when Susan wowed the audience with her rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from the musical Les Miserables. Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden both had to fight back the tears of what was an awe inspiring performance.

We cannot fail to notice the similarities between Susan and Paul Potts, a former car phone salesmen who, after winning Britain’s Got Talent 2007, went on to sell a staggering 15 million albums world wide.

Susan who lives alone with her 10 year old cat Pebbles was dubbed “a tiger” by music mogul Simon Cowell who said that Susan’s performance was remarkable. Susan, a lover of the royal family herself is tipped as hot favourite to win the talent show and perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.

Connie Talbot rose to fame as a six year old on Britain’s Got Talent, eventually finishing runner up to Paul Potts.

Now eight years old, Connie has released a staggering two albums, her debut album featuring her signature tune Over the Rainbow selling a staggering 250,000 copies.  Here’s another chance to see her first performance on our screens, a real tear jerker in deed.

Here’s Britain’s Got Talent 2007 winner Paul Potts singing Nessun Dorma.  Susan has already been compared to Paul, and if her opening performance is anything to go by, she’ll be right up there with him.

This performance by Paul still sends shivers down my spine.   I think he may have sold his last mobile phone!

Elaine Paige is a product of the Aida Foster school and best known for her musical theatre roles, making her debut in 1964.  She has released 20 studio albums and currently hosts her own radio show, Elaine Paige on Sunday on BBC’s Radio 2.

She won the Laurence Olivier for her performance in Evita and went on to have a top ten hit with Memory from Cats.  Here’s a magical performance of Memory live in London in 1988.

We can certainly see where Susan gets her inspiration from and she has the ability to be a star in her own right.  The new Elaine Paige? And some more, we think!
